Botanical Name: Camellia japonica 'Spring's Promise'
This new camellia cultivar is included in the Ice Angles® series of camellias selected for their increased cold hardiness and extended bloom.
Plant Family: Theaceae: Tea family
Plant Origin/Camellia Nursery Cultivar: China + Japan | Dr. Clifford Parks, Chapel Hills, North Carolina, 1990
The genus Camellia was named in 1735 by Swedish botanist Carolus Linnaeus - Karl von Linné (1707-1778) in posthumous honor of George Joseph Kamel (1661-1706), a Jesuit missionary and pioneer botanist serving in the Philippines. Kamel, who was born in Brünn, Moravia, Latinized his name to Camellus, hence the name.
a.k.a: Spring Promise Japanese Camellia, Spring's Promise Ice Angles®

How to grow Spring's Promise Camellia shrubs/trees:
. Select a location that provides adequate sunlight, water, and soil requirements [see above]

. Protect camellias against drying winter winds and heavy freezes
. Prune Spring's Promise camellia plants immediately after spring flowering
. Fertilize camellias after bloom with an acid fertilizer and again in early July
